Drinking a gallon of water a day isn't actually hydrating you.
Here's my four alternatives from drinking plain water so you can actually be hydrated.
I originally posted this on X.com and it got a little bit of traction so I wanted to expand on it more here:
Store-bought water and tap water is completely void of all the five key electrolytes that are actually going to hydrate you.
You see, water is just a vehicle to drive electrolytes to cells so you can actually be hydrated.
So the five key electrolytes you should be consistently consuming, that usually aren't found in most waters are:
So, number one is coconut water. Coconut water is extremely high in potassium.
One litre of coconut water has about 2,500mg of potassium, and it tastes amazing as well.
With high levels of potassium intake, your muscle cells can readily expel water, so cramps are going to be a thing of the past.
P.S. For the Australians reading this: track down some Raw C coconut water (by far the best option)
Number two is raw milk, which is abundant in all five key electrolytes rather than traditional store bought water, which has none of them at all.
Some people think raw milk is 'dangerous' or unnecessary, but it has an incredible macro AND micronutrient profile, especially in comparison to the pasteurized storebought milk.
Because the enzymes are kept intact in raw milk, it actually makes it easier to digest the proteins in it.
Just look at the table below:

Number three is watermelon. Watermelon is extremely high in potassium and magnesium, and is an amazing low-calorie yet high-volume food you can add into your nutrition protocol.
Sprinkle a little bit of high quality salt (Maldon flaky salt is one of my favourites) on it to get your sodium intake up as well.
Another reason why watermelon ranks in the top four: It is an INCREDIBLE natural pre-workout.
You see, watermelon is extremely high in L-citrulline, which improves blood flow to your muscles and helps you get a crazy pump in the gym.
Pro Tip: Much of the L-citrulline is found in the white of the watermelon, so make sure you're eating all the way down close to the watermelon.
And finally, you can hydrate with spring or mineral water which has an abundance of naturally occurring electrolytes.
Sparkling is the way to go.
My go-to choices are:
Always try your best to buy spring and mineral water in glass bottles to prevent microplastic and BPA consumption, which are powerful endocrine disriptions and will do damage to your most powerful male hormone: testosterone.
So stop drinking dead, plain water to try and hydrate you.
You're actually further diluting the electrolyte balance in your system.
Try these four alternatives to replace your basic water, and watch your mental clarity, physical performance, and overall health improve rapidly.
